How does shade affect solar panels?

At certain times of day, and depending on the location of the installation, things like chimneys, trees or aerials can cast shade on some panels.

When this is detected in the study before installation, for various reasons and factors it may be worth installing microinverters to ensure maximum efficiency across the whole solar PV installation.

What is a microinverter?

A microinverter is a device that converts the direct current generated by a single solar panel into alternating current. Each panel has its own microinverter, so if one panel is shaded for a few hours a day, the rest keep working independently and at 100% efficiency.

Another factor to consider is the panel itself. Not all solar panels are the same. The design and engineering built into the panel make the difference in terms of energy efficiency, especially in adverse weather.

At Voltaic we always work with the best manufacturers and suppliers to offer each of our clients the most efficient solution.
