Many people believe that self-consumption with off-grid solar PV installations is out of their reach simply because their homes are in remote places where it is difficult to connect to the electricity distribution grid.
For Voltaic, off-grid installations are far from impossible. On the contrary, they are a challenge we are keen to take on!
Off-grid solar PV installations are all those that have no physical way of connecting to the general electricity distribution grid, either directly or through another installation of their own. Since this connection is impossible, a system running on batteries and power units is needed to make use of the energy produced by the solar PV installation.
With the system we propose at Voltaic, operation and energy availability can be guaranteed 365 days a year. Otherwise, we could not guarantee the client’s electricity supply on the coldest days with the fewest hours of sunshine. To achieve this, we follow one essential principle: the installation must be sized very precisely.
Off-grid solar PV installations combine solar panels and batteries. On the one hand, the panels capture solar energy and convert it into electricity for household use. On the other, the batteries store energy to supply the home during the hours without sun.
Although it may seem new, off-grid solar PV is a system with many years of track record in remote mountain locations and places that are hard to reach.
Essential equipment for an off-grid solar PV installation
Most components are the same as in conventional solar PV installations; the main difference is the backup generator, which is used in emergencies, for example when the batteries do not have enough stored energy to meet demand or after many consecutive days without sun.
If you can now see that an off-grid solar PV installation is the answer to your energy needs, don’t hesitate to contact Voltaic. We will study, analyse and correctly size your installation so you can enjoy your home in complete comfort.
