Tips for saving energy in summer

Hot summers like the ones we’ve had in recent years mean higher electricity bills. Our habits (the way we live and do things) have a direct effect on energy use, so today we’re sharing some easy tips to help you save energy every day. How many of them are you already following?

☀️Natural light: in summer there are more hours of daylight, so use sunlight to light your home and reduce the need for artificial lighting.

💡LED bulbs: when you do need lights, choose low-energy LED bulbs, which cut lighting costs by 80%.

🌡️Temperature control: if you have air conditioning, try to keep the temperature between 24 and 26 degrees. Remember that every degree lower increases consumption by 8%.

🏠☀️Solar PV installation: a solar PV installation is a long-term solution, but it will significantly reduce your dependence on the conventional grid. In the sunniest months, solar production rises, which has a positive effect on your electricity bill. With a self-consumption installation you’ll cut your energy costs while helping the environment by reducing your home’s carbon footprint.

🪟Use your blinds wisely: open the blinds to air and cool your home first thing in the morning and at night, and close them during the sunniest hours of the day.

🌱Efficient appliances: choose appliances with an energy efficiency certificate. They use less energy and will make a difference to your bills.

🔌Switch appliances off: if you’re going on holiday, remember to unplug your appliances. The fridge is one of the biggest consumers, so we recommend emptying it and switching it off while you’re away.

👕Dry clothes in the sun: make the most of the summer sun and heat to dry your clothes outdoors. Try to avoid the tumble dryer, which uses a lot of energy, and only use it when really necessary.

We hope you found these #VoltaicTips useful and that together we can move towards a future based on #selfconsumption and #selfawareness. 🌱🌍💚
