How does summer affect solar PV?

Today, 21 June, we celebrate #InternationalSunDay ☀️, our most powerful source of renewable energy, and the arrival of summer🏖️ .

📌Do you know how summer affects #solarPV? We explain below 👇

  • ☀️More energy production. In summer the days are longer and there are more hours of sunshine, so solar panels generate more electricity.
  • ⬆️💡Higher consumption. In Spain, electricity consumption is generally highest in summer, because we need more energy to cool our homes.
  • 🌡️Heat is not your friend. Very high temperatures (above 40 °C) reduce solar panel performance. However, this negative effect is offset by the extra hours of sunshine. In summer a panel’s efficiency will be lower, but its energy output is higher.
  • ⚡💵Energy independence + savings. By generating your own energy from sunlight, you’ll depend much less on the conventional grid and its prices.
  • 🏠🔋Surplus energy compensation. You can store the surplus energy you produce with one of the #VoltaicSolutions or feed it into the grid and send it to a second home.
  • 🌍💚Look after the planet and reduce your environmental footprint. With a solar PV installation you’ll produce and use green energy from the most powerful renewable source: the sun.
